A super healthy dinner for once!

It seems like all I do is think about food, go the grocery store, cook, watch Luke cook and think about food some more. I’m on a kick to try two new meals or sides a week, so that might be part of the reason I've been obsessed with food lately. Tonight, we made the second new recipe for the week - Sugar Snap Peas with Olive Oil and Lemon. We paired the peas with Lemon Honey Soy marinated grilled chicken and steamed brown rice. Luke really liked the peas. I would definitely keep them in our recipe book (partly because they were super easy), but I wouldn't have to have them all the time or anything.

The picture below was printed in Martha Stewart Magazine.

The Recipe

If I would have staged our peas; they would have looked exactly like the MS picture. I need to get better at that.

Baby Bjorn and MS recipe

I ordered a Baby Bjorn and I finally got it. I thought we would try it out yesterday. He seemed to do pretty well in it. I think over the summer we will get a lot of use out of it.

Here is another Martha Stewart dinner. This is a picture of what the chicken was supposed to look like.

Here is a picture of how it turned out.

I planned on serving Sugar Snap Peas with Lemon and Olive oil with the chicken but when Luke went to get the peas out of the fridge, they weren’t there. I paid for them at Walmart but they never made it home. I hate when that happens. So, we ended up having broccoli with the chicken. Luke and I both agreed that the chicken was really good, but it would have been better if it had dried cranberries inside with the spinach, nuts and mushrooms. I thought it seemed to be more of a fall dish and would go with a side of sweet potatoes really well. To conclude, we are going to keep the recipe but make a few updates next time we cook it. **One of the updates (per Luke’s suggestion) will be buying kitchen twine (as the recipe says) so that the chicken can actually be rolled up. Poor Luke had to make do with sticking it with toothpicks.

Onesie's and Brownies - What a combo!

I wish I had the opportunity to take a sewing class in high school. Just this week, my grandma had to teach me how to sew buttons on. Would you count that as a sewing lesson? I can come up with and find on the internet all kinds of projects to make at home, but that’s usually where it stops. Not this time though. Since my Grandma is truly Martha Stewart, check out this onesie. I can claim stealing the idea and buying the fabric, but she did the rest. I love the whale and the finishing stitches on the onesie.

The total cost of this was $2.15…what a steal. Now only if I could actually make it myself. I’m going to have another sewing lesson next time I go to Springfield, so I just might be able to make these for Greyson someday. Here are a few more that she made.

We made brownies today. Well, let me rephrase that. I came up with the great idea and recipe for brownies and Luke made them. He said they are the best brownies he has ever had. Thanks Martha (she provided the recipe).

Here's the recipe if anyone wants it.

I can’t judge them until tomorrow. Brownies are the best to me when they are a day old. I love and I mean love my edge brownie pan that I got for Christmas. No longer do I have the center of the brownies to deal with…its all the edges. Yum!!

The finished product...after we dug into it. =)
